Thank you for your interest in one of our many LVUSD athletic programs. At Las Virgenes, we pride ourselves in building and maintaining some of the most elite athletics programs in all of Southern California. These efforts entail the diligent work of our coaches and athletes, along with the support of our community members and LVUSD administrators.
As many of you are aware, there is a significant cost to LVUSD to maintain these athletic programs. In past years, the voluntary donations and fundraising efforts by parents and students have been essential to maintaining these programs at their elite levels. Our administrative team has determined that, to fully fund each of these athletics programs, LVUSD will have to raise a total amount of over $200,000. This goal will be reached if each student athlete makes the recommended donation per sport. The funds collected from these donations are used towards:
*Athletic equipment and facility improvements
*Gameday employees: Ticket sellers, security, custodial overtime
*CIF and Marmonte league dues
*Over $115,000 in costs related to transportation expenses
*Over $30,000 in official/umpire/referee expenses
*Over $20,000 in tournament expenses
*Over $10,000 in costs for safety and first aide equipment
Donations are voluntary and are not required for a student to participate in any LVUSD sport. However, LVUSD highly encourages parents to donate the suggested amount per student per sport, or any other amount (higher or lower) parents are able and willing to donate. If LVUSD is unable to raise sufficient funds to maintain these programs, and it does not have sufficient funding available from other sources, it may need to scale back or cut these programs altogether for this school year.

Most teams hold tryouts due to the limited number of spots on teams. Tryouts for 5th and 6th period Sports PE classes will occur within the first two weeks of school. Team tryouts will also occur prior to each season of sport to determine final rosters and levels.
Being a member of an athletic team is both a tremendous honor and a significant responsibility. Teams practice on a daily basis during their season, often including Saturdays. Sports that run through school vacation frequently have practices and/or games scheduled during vacation time. Before trying out for a sport, the student should consider the time commitment. Once a student is on a team, he or she is expected to complete the season. This includes attendance at all games and practices.
